Young And Talented

Starting from a kid who would hate getting his hair cut by his dad, never having experienced a professional cut; I never would have thought I'd be a professional barber today...

Now, here I stand. A Master Barber amongst other titles. With the drive to be the best barber in the world, I will stop at nothing until I reach perfection.

My Youthful Growing

At the age of twelve I received my first pair of clippers. They were given to me by my aunt, Martha Gay, who picked them up from Wal-Mart, where she worked. The reason she bought me the simple hair cutting kit, was because my father had suffered from a stroke around that time, and was in the process of recovering from muscle paralysis. Therefore, he could not continue to cut my hair like usual.
When I received the box, I had no idea what to do or how to start the process of cutting my hair. No one directed me or steered me from failure. It was just all up to me. So reading the instructions and taking a shot at it, I completed my first step in cutting my own hair. Not having a set of trimmers, I wasnt able to start giving  myself a line-up until a couple of years later.
I entered high school where as you know appearance meant everything. I knew nothing about an edge-up, or "taper" as what some would call it. I borrowed a set of cordless, battery powered trimmers from my aunt, Tina Gay, to line myself up. Not being educated on the professional way of using them, I did what I "thought" was right. This eventually lead to my fellow classmates and a few of my basketball buddies to notice that I had decent talent.
Even still I never witnessed a professional cut, personally, nor via television or Internet. Each head I began to cut was a charge of five dollars for an Even Steven (thats all I knew how to cut). I never knew what a fade was so giving someone a temp, bald, or shadow fade was out of the question. Then there were clients that began to ask me to draw a design in their head. Me being an artist I was more than anxious to do so but didnt know where to start. A pencil and a pair of trimmers are not the same in any way, but with practice I got it down with the tools I had to make my friends/clients satisfied.

So today I am as good as you label me to be. From the age of twelve to present, a young barber still going strong and still getting better. Whose to say that you wont be the next person in my chair.
